Female hockey players continue to face challenges and barriers to the sport and Canlan Sports is part of the solution in helping to create a more inclusive and equitable sport for all – it is out mission.
Learning to play sports as a child can help develop important life skills – especially when on a hockey team but unfortunately, hockey is not always as welcoming or accessible to girls as much as it is for boys.

Female participation in Canlan programs and camps are growing at a slower rate than boys
Female registration in Adult Safe Hockey League (ASHL) remains steady at 7% which means that 93% are male players.
Girls’ hockey associations account for 13% of ice rentals at Canlan Sports while 87% is dominated by boys.
