An important update on proof of vaccination requirements at Canlan Sports in Ontario: Starting September 22nd, Canlan Sports will require guests to produce proof of vaccination for certain settings.
On September 22nd, Canlan Sports will be implementing Proof of Vaccination controls as required by the Province’s Reopening Ontario Act.
Your safety continues to be our top priority at Canlan Sports, and we remain committed to working with the Province to protect Ontarians and ensure that you continue to have safe access to recreation and team sports.
We know that you probably have questions, and we’re here to provide you with some answers.
Q: On what date do I need to show my proof of vaccination?
A: By the order of the Provincial Health Officer, proof of vaccination will be required on September 22nd. Individuals will be required to present their proof of vaccination documents (they can be downloaded here) along with valid photo identification when entering the sports complex.
The Province of Ontario has announced that an app-based proof of vaccination is expected to be available to Ontarians by October 22nd.
Canlan Sports will not maintain any patron proof of vaccination documentation on file, and we encourage you to download your documents ahead of time to expedite your entry as much as possible.
And please, remember to bring a piece of personal photo identification with you on every visit to our sports complexes.
Q: What constitutes proof of vaccination?
A: You’ll need two doses of a certified COVID-19 vaccine with your second dose being administered a minimum of 14 days prior to the date of entry.
Q: Who does the proof of vaccination requirements apply to?
· Adult Leagues, Programs, and Contracts: All participants, game officials, and timekeepers for an adult recreational sports league or program (including the ASHL, and contract rentals) will be required to present proof of vaccination when entering the sports complex.
· Youth Leagues, Programs, and Contracts: Under Ontario’s regulations, youth participants under the age of 18 are exempt from requiring proof of vaccine to participate.
Coaches, Bench Staff, and Game Officials that are 18 or older will be required to present proof of vaccination.
Sports organizations (e.g. minor hockey associations) that wish to implement additional vaccination requirements for their participants will be responsible for communicating and managing their protocols separately.
· Spectators + Wild Wing: All spectators that are aged 12 or older, including Wild Wing patrons, will be required to present proof of vaccination to enter the sports complex.
Q: Do I need to show my proof of vaccination every time I visit?
A: At this time, proof of vaccination will be required to be shown each time you enter our sports complexes.
The Province of Ontario has announced that on October 22nd they’ll be introducing a new mobile app that will allow individuals to present proof of vaccination securely, and easily.
In the meantime, we’re doing everything we can to make this process as efficient as possible, but we do appreciate your patience as we adapt to the changes on September 22nd.
Q: Will contact tracing still be required on September 22nd?
A: Yes, although we’re going to be making some changes to our check-in process to streamline the process. A new contact tracing form will be available online at www.canlansports.com and www.ashl.ca which will take no more than a minute to complete on a mobile device, tablet, or computer.
Q: Do I still need to wear a personal mask?
A: Yes, this requirement has not been lifted by the Province. All patrons will be required to always wear a personal facemask in all areas of the sports complex, including the Wild Wing, with the exception of:
· Game Participants on the playing surface and player’s bench (e.g. Players, Referees). Note that coaches and bench staff are required to wear a personal mask while on the player’s bench.
· Wild Wing patrons will not be required to wear a facemask only while consuming food or beverage. Spectators in the Wild Wing must wear their personal facemask at all times otherwise.
Q: How many spectators are permitted to enter your location?
A: Currently, all participants are permitted to be accompanied by one (1) spectator, excluding youth hockey coaches and bench staff. Any changes to these protocols will be updated on www.canlansports.com.
Q: Are there any exemptions for being vaccinated?
A: Individuals with a personal medical exemption will be required to have a licensed medical physician complete a document on letterhead, specifying that the individual is unable to be vaccinated. At this time, in accordance with the Province’s mandate, no other exemptions will be permitted.
Please note that individuals that are unable to present valid documentation will unfortunately not be permitted to enter the sports complex.
We understand that change can be tough, but we’re here to ensure that your safety will continue to be our top priority.
Please be respectful to our staff, as we’re all human, and we’re all in this together. Abuse and profanity from customers will not be tolerated and will result in expulsion from our sports complexes.
