Before registering for Canlan's Youth Hockey League (YHL), we understand that you may have some questions, which is why we've introduced our Peace of Mind Policy to ensure you have all the information you need prior to your next registration with us.

How do payments work, and when are they due?
Team Entry:
Payments for the YHL are due in-full based on prescribed payment deadlines, including a non-refundable deposit and a final payment. At this time, online payments through your Dash account are accepted through Visa, MasterCard.
- Non-Refundable Deposit: This is due at the time of online registration to secure your spot in one of our leagues.
- Final Payment: Final Payments are due thirty (30) days prior to the start date of the tournament. If there's still capacity for your team to register in a league with less than 30 days until the start date, the final payment will be due with the registration.
Free Agent (Individual Player) Entry:
At this time, online payments through your DaySmart account are accepted through Visa or MasterCard.
- Full Payment: Full payment is due upon completing registration.
Please note that a $25.00 surcharge will be applied to any non-sufficient fund payments.
How can I ensure my team entry has been confirmed?
Entry into a YHL league is reserved for teams that have completed the online registration process as well as the payment of a non-refundable deposit.
Your spot will unfortunately not be held otherwise, and you will also be required to complete your final payment in-line with the specified payment deadline.
Teams will not be placed into league schedule if:
- There are no longer available spots in the league prior to the receipt of your team's online registration and non-refundable deposit
- Final payment from your team was not received by the specified deadline
- At the league staff's discretion (e.g. the skill level of the team is not commensurate with the skill level of the other teams in the league)
How can I ensure my son/daughter's 'Free Agent' entry has been confirmed?
Entry into a league is reserved for free agents that have completed the online registration process as well as full payment. Your spot will unfortunately not be held otherwise.
The registration's status is pending until we successfully match your child with a team of their age group & skill level. You will be sent a registration confirmation & team assignment closer to league startup.
Free Agents will not be placed into league schedule if:
- There are no longer spots in the league prior to the receipt of your son/daughter's online registration and full payment
- At the league staff's discretion (e.g. the skill level of the team is not commensurate with the skill level of the other teams in the league)

What happens if I need to cancel my team registration?
We understand that plans can change, and we're pleased to provide you with options in the event of a cancellation that needs to be made after registration:
More than 30 days prior to the first scheduled day of the League:
- The non-refundable deposit will be converted to a credit, which can be applied towards a future Canlan league, tournament, or program. This portion of a payment is not eligible for a refund.
- Any monies paid in addition to the non-refundable deposit will automatically be converted into a credit and is eligible for a refund upon request.
30 days or less from the first scheduled day of the League:
- Unfortunately, cancelled registrations made 30 days or less to the start of a league will not be eligible for any monies paid to be transferred to another registration, credit, or refund.
What happens if I need to cancel my player registration on a team entry?
We understand that plans can change, and we're pleased to provide you with options in the event of a cancellation that needs to be made after registration:
More than 30 days prior to the first scheduled day of the League:
- If a player on a team entry is unable to proceed with their involvement, they are entitled to a refund or credit if the following conditions are met;
- The team is paid in full
- The team has a replacement player for the individual requesting the refund to assume the roster spot.
If both conditions are met, a refund will be provided.
30 days or less from the first scheduled day of the League:
- Unfortunately, cancelled registrations made 30 days or less to the start of a league will not be eligible for any monies paid to be transferred to another registration, credit, or refund.
What happens if I need to cancel my free agent registration?
We understand that plans can change, and we're pleased to provide you with options in the event of a cancellation that needs to be made after registration:
- Refund: Withdrawals made (14) days or more before the league start date will be eligible for a refund, less a $25.00 administrative fee.

Credit: Withdrawals made less than (14) days prior to the league start date will receive a credit on-file. Any credit balance is eligible to be transferred to other family members, and applicable towards other forms of Canlan programming, if desired.
*Please note:-
Account credits will expire 12 months after being issued. Any credits prior to May 1st, 2024 will expire on April 30th, 2025 if not used.

If Canlan cannot place the customer on an Individual team within the first month (4 weeks) of the season, customers can receive their choice of a credit or full refund.
What happens if Canlan Sports needs to cancel my League?
Canlan Sports Initiated Cancellation: If your Youth Hockey League is canceled at the discretion of Canlan Sports, you will have the choice of transferring your registration, maintaining a credit, or requesting a refund for any monies paid.
Please note that Canlan Sports™ reserves the right to change the division assignment, and team's schedule, if required.
